What exactly is "orange wine"? Why is it being talked about more and more often and what makes it so special? Come to our introductory tasting and find out right in the glass.
Tasting for beginners
We'll go over the basics together: how orange wines are made, how they differ from classic white and red wines, how they taste and how to pair them with food correctly. You can expect 7 samples, which will present different styles – from light and fresh to denser, with longer maceration.

The Horst Hummel winery, founded in 1998, is located in the prestigious Villány region, known for its ideal climate for growing both red and white varieties. Portugieser, Kékfrankos (Frankish), Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot are grown on 7.5 hectares of vineyards. Hárslevelü and Furmint come from leased vineyards, while Traminer is produced from purchased grapes.
Since 2008, the winery has been run in accordance with the rules of organic viticulture, in 2016 it began using biodynamic preparations, and since 2020 it has been managed according to the principles of Natural Synergetic Winegrowing (NSW) - a method that Horst Hummel himself developed. This results in pure, authentic wines that respect the terroir and natural character of the grapes.
White wines ferment on the skins for 3–20 days and then mature on the lees in tanks or used barrels. Red wines ferment in open containers with gentle extraction and then mature for up to two years in tanks or used oak barrels of various ages and origins.
The goal of the winery is to create uncompromising wines full of character that perfectly reflect the variety, soil and unique climate of the Villány region. Discover the honest natural wines of Horst Hummel with an unmistakable signature!
