Partida Creus is one of the most important natural wineries in Spain. Located in the Penedès region of Catalonia, Partida Creus was founded in 2001 by Italian couple Massimo Marchiori and Antonella Gerona. They originally moved to Bonastre with the aim of growing fruit and vegetables, but when they found that the local wines did not meet their expectations of authentic and natural winemaking, they decided to start producing their own wines.
From the very beginning, Partida Creus' aim was to produce wines in harmony with nature and without chemical intervention. There are no pesticides or synthetic fertilizers in their vineyards - on the contrary, the land is cultivated using traditional methods and the harvest is carried out exclusively by hand. Not only friends help with the work in the vineyard, but also Orazio and Vincenzo – a donkey and a mule, who have become an integral part of the team.
One of Massimo and Antonella's greatest contributions is their determination to save forgotten and original grape varieties that local winemakers considered obsolete and ineffective. Instead of planting popular international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot, they decided to revive original Catalan varieties such as Sumoll, Trepat, Garrut, Cartoixa Vermell and many others. These varieties give their wines a unique character and reflect the terroir of the region.
Partida Creus winery follows a minimal intervention policy, even in the cellar. Fermentation is spontaneous using native yeasts, the wines are not filtered or clarified and no sulphur is added during the entire process. The result is lively, energetic and authentic wines with a natural freshness and lightness.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks to preserve the purest character of the varieties, while some varietal wines are aged in various types of oak barrels. Partida Creus wines are characterized by their low alcohol content, direct fruitiness and lively acidity, making them perfect for summer drinking or as a refreshing accompaniment to food.
