Chardonnay on a cloud. But not the snobbish hotel type — more of a Burgundian lightness that has dirt under its nails and a sparkle in its eyes. Préty… Sur un Nuage 2023 is a white from Mâcon that rides the tension between softness and salty energy. Expect citrus, yellow fruit, a subtle smoky note, a bit of nuttiness, and the kind of minerality that doesn’t make shoulders, but holds the wine together beautifully. It’s not a heavy, buttery Chardonnay. It’s a cleaner, more brisk, more lively version of Burgundy — elegant, but still natural enough not to be boring. It will entertain people who want Chardonnay with depth but without makeup. Ideal for fans of Burgundian whites who can stand a little more free-flowing, less polished expression. Renaud Boyer works naturally and minimalistically, with an emphasis on the vineyard, spontaneity, and minimal intervention in the cellar. This is mainly about Chardonnay from the Préty parcel and its light, salty, more southern expression. Pair it with roast chicken, buttered fish, creamy mushrooms, or just for an evening when you want something really good but don't want to lecture about it. A Burgundy that floats — but still has its feet in the dirt.

Renaud Boyer, originally a trained engineer from Meursault, took over the winery from his uncle Thierry Guyot. Thierry Guyot was an organic enthusiast who had worked his vineyards completely chemical-free since the 1980s. The influence of legends such as Pierre Overnoy and Philippe Jambon motivated Renaud to work without compromise. The vineyards are divided between Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet and Saint Romain.
