Horst Hummel for the first time at HokusPokus Prague!
A distinctive personality of the European natural scene, a winemaker with heart and soul, is coming to Prague.
Horst Hummel
Originally from Germany, but with his heart rooted in Villány, Hungary, where he has been creating authentic wines since the late 1990s. Hummel is one of the visionaries of natural winemaking - his work is based on biodynamics, respect for the soil and the search for a pure expression of terroir. The wines are elegant, mineral, energetic, often with surprising freshness even in the warm climate of southern Hungary.
His work is appreciated by both natural wine connoisseurs and prestigious gastronomy throughout Europe. Each bottle is a reflection of the philosophy: wine should be alive, true and with a soul.

The Horst Hummel winery, founded in 1998, is located in the prestigious Villány region, known for its ideal climate for growing both red and white varieties. Portugieser, Kékfrankos (Frankish), Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot are grown on 7.5 hectares of vineyards. Hárslevelü and Furmint come from leased vineyards, while Traminer is produced from purchased grapes.
Since 2008, the winery has been run in accordance with the rules of organic viticulture, in 2016 it began using biodynamic preparations, and since 2020 it has been managed according to the principles of Natural Synergetic Winegrowing (NSW) - a method that Horst Hummel himself developed. This results in pure, authentic wines that respect the terroir and natural character of the grapes.
White wines ferment on the skins for 3–20 days and then mature on the lees in tanks or used barrels. Red wines ferment in open containers with gentle extraction and then mature for up to two years in tanks or used oak barrels of various ages and origins.
The goal of the winery is to create uncompromising wines full of character that perfectly reflect the variety, soil and unique climate of the Villány region. Discover the honest natural wines of Horst Hummel with an unmistakable signature!
