Camille 2022 seems almost inconspicuous at first. But then it gets going — and suddenly you don't understand why the glass is empty again. A light Loire red from Pineau d'Aunis, which does not rely on strength, but on energy, spices and brutal drinkability. The aroma features red currants, sour cherries, dried herbs and a typical peppery touch that gives this variety its own character. The taste of the wine is delicate, juicy and incredibly lively, with a slightly earthy undertone and a clean, long finish. Camille will please everyone who loves elegant natural reds without heaviness. Something between Pinot, Gamay and Loire punk poetry. Robinot works as naturally as possible — spontaneous fermentation, minimal intervention, no filtration or unnecessary sulfur. The wine is usually aged in older barrels, where it retains the purity of the fruit and acquires a delicate texture without dominating wood. The 2022 vintage brought riper fruit and a rounder expression, but still with the beautiful freshness typical of the Loire. Ideal slightly chilled with charcuterie, roasted vegetables, grilled chicken or an evening that starts with "just one". Quiet red. Very loud desire to open another bottle.

The story of JP Robinot is legendary among wine lovers. He fell in love with wine at a young age and moved to Paris, where he met pioneers of natural winemaking. He subsequently opened one of the first wine bars specializing in natural wines. In addition to the bar, he founded the leading French magazine on natural wines, "Le Rouge et le Blanc". It was only a matter of time before he started making wine himself, so in 2000 he left Paris and moved back to the village in the Loire Valley where he grew up. Jean-Pierre farms a total of seven hectares across two appellations: Jasnières and Coteaux-du-Loir, and focuses on just two varieties: Chenin Blanc and Pineau. d'Aunis. The vines grow on a mixture of red clay, limestone and flint and are organically treated, most often in the form of wild plants such as nettles and ferns. The vines are harvested by hand by Jean Pierre. Subsequent fermentation takes place in a labyrinth of ancient limestone caves under the vineyards. Thanks to the low temperature in the caves, the wines ferment very slowly.
