Muster Erde comes from 25-year-old vineyards planted in limestone and clay subsoil, locally known as “Opok” (hence the Opok range). The vines grow on steep hills and are organically managed using natural composting techniques and biodynamic products. After the harvest, which is done by hand, Erde begins in 600-liter wooden barrels with yeast. The grapes remain on the skins for about 9 months and then mature for about 20 months in wooden barrels. The wine is bottled in special clay bottles that keep everything inside the bottle. That’s why Erde is such a distinctive, eccentric and complex orange wine. All without filtration, fining or sulfur, of course.

Maria and Sepp Muster took over their parents' 10-hectare winery in Styria in 2000 and began growing vines biodynamically. The process of obtaining the biodynamic Demeter certificate was not that complicated for them, because their parents also pioneered the philosophy of no chemicals.
The steep hills of their vineyards are dominated by opok subsoil, after which their wines - the Vom Opok series - are also named. The Graf wines also have a stony subsoil, but are located on steeper slopes facing south. The Graf wines have lower yields and are much more structured and mineral in character. They also produce orange wines - Gräfin and Erde. Sepp's wines excel in typical Styrian acidity.
