Brand's website: 2NatrukinderMicheal Voelker and Melanie Drese spent many years working and living abroad. In 2013, they returned and took over Michael's father's winery in Kitzingen, Bavaria, Germany.
They converted part of the vineyards to organic and produced the first natural wines under the 2naturkinder brand as a side project for the winery. No sulfur, no filtration, just the character of the vineyard and the variety - these are their wines. The couple follows the definition - nothing can be added to a natural wine and nothing can be taken away.
They have since decided to fully expand the project to take over more of the winery's production. Michael is particularly interested in the bats in the vineyard and some of the labels are inspired by them.
The bats provide excellent fertilizer for the vineyard. In return, some of the grapes are exclusively for them. Several boxes have also been installed in the vineyard to serve as homes for other bats. 2NaturKindr is sponsoring a research project to fund the role of bats in the vineyard and to help them survive.
