Radikon
Brand's website: RadikonRadikon is a truly unique winery, operating on 12 hectares on the Slovenian border with Italy. Stanko Radikon has run this pioneering winery since 1995, paving the way for natural wines. Realising that the local indigenous Ribolla Gialla grape needed to be treated differently than other varieties, he turned to his grandfather’s vinification method, which involved macerating the grapes for seven days. Stanko experimented with this technique and today’s wines have around three months of maceration, along with a long period of ageing in barrels and bottle. Working this way meant he was able to eliminate the use of sulphites altogether. Specially designed bottles allow for better development in the bottle and he only uses the highest quality corks, which avoid cork defects. His grape selection is so meticulous that an entire vine often produces just one single bottle. His wines are truly fascinating, with incredible complexity, high aging potential and deep, wild flavors.
Since Stanko recently passed away, his son Saša Radikon continues his father's tradition and maintains the same high standards.
