Rosé wine Rosé wine is made from blue grapes. In short, grapes begin their life as red wine, but then live the life of white wine. This is because only a short maceration (lasting a few hours) of blue grapes takes place. Only a small amount of red pigment is released from the skins, and rosé is born.
